Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars combine creamy peanut butter and salted butter with brown sugar, eggs, and flour to create a soft, chewy bar studded with chocolate chips. Baked in a foil-lined pan, these bars develop lightly browned edges while remaining tender inside. They offer a rich balance of nutty sweetness and chocolate, ideal for snacks or casual dessert.

Description

The recipe blends melted salted butter and creamy peanut butter with brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla, forming a smooth batter. Dry ingredients including all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt are folded in gently, followed by chocolate chips for bursts of melting chocolate. The dough is pressed evenly into a prepared foil-lined pan to promote even baking and easy removal. Baking at 350°F until just set and lightly browned around the edges ensures a soft center with a slight chew on the borders.

These bars are convenient for cutting into uniform squares once cooled, making them suitable for sharing or packing lunches. The creamy peanut butter base complements the sweetness of the chocolate without overwhelming the texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • ¾ cup butter salted
  • ½ cup peanut butter creamy
  • 2 egg large
  • 1 ½ cups light brown sugar packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9X13-inch metal baking pan with foil (the foil part is optional but helps the bars come out in one big slab after cooling and provides easy clean-up). Spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Whisk in the peanut butter, eggs, brown sugar and vanilla extract.
  3. Gently stir in the flour, baking soda and salt until just combined. Add the chocolate chips and stir until no dry streaks remain and the chips are evenly combined.
  4. Press the dough evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes until set in the middle and lightly browned on the edges. Don’t overbake! We're going for soft and delicious here. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • This recipe uses creamy peanut butter, but natural or other nut butters can be tried to vary flavor and texture.
