Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Bars
Description
This recipe starts with a dough made by creaming butter and peanut butter, then mixing in sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, vanilla, and flour. Half of the chocolate chips are folded into the dough, which is pressed into an 8x8-inch pan and refrigerated to set. Meanwhile, a chocolate topping is prepared by heating heavy cream until bubbling, then removing from heat to melt chocolate chips in two stages—first mixing and whisking a portion, then stirring in remaining chips for a smooth, satiny finish.
The ganache is poured over the chilled dough and smoothed out, then decorated with optional sprinkles. The bars chill further for at least four hours until fully set, allowing clean cuts with a hot knife at room temperature. The resulting bars offer a dense, fudgy texture with a contrast between the cookie dough base and glossy chocolate topping, balanced by peanut butter and vanilla notes.
They are served chilled and stored in the refrigerator to maintain firmness. These bars are suitable for dessert or a sweet snack and allow for creativity with decorative toppings.
