Peanut Butter OREO Cookie Balls

Peanut Butter OREO Cookie Balls combine creamy peanut butter with finely crushed Oreo cookies to create a rich, sweet filling that is coated in melted semi-sweet chocolate. These bite-sized treats offer a smooth, creamy texture with the cookie crumbs providing a subtle crunch. Freezing the mixture before dipping helps maintain their shape and texture. They make for an easy-to-prepare snack or dessert that can be flavored by choosing different types of Oreo cookies.

Description

Peanut Butter OREO Cookie Balls are made by blending creamy peanut butter with crushed Oreo cookies to form a smooth mixture. The ingredients come together into a sticky dough that is shaped into small, one-inch balls. By chilling the balls in the freezer, they become firm enough to coat evenly in melted semi-sweet baking chocolate without losing shape. The chocolate coating provides a glossy, bittersweet contrast to the sweet peanut butter and Oreo filling. Optionally, toppings like chopped peanuts or sea salt can be added while the chocolate is still wet to introduce additional flavor and texture. After dipping, the balls are refrigerated until the chocolate sets completely, resulting in a firm, handheld treat that is easy to serve at gatherings or enjoy as a sweet snack at home.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup peanut butter creamy
  • 36 Oreo cookies finely crushed (about 3 cups )
  • 4-4 ounce semi-sweet baking chocolate melted, packages

Instructions

  1. Add peanut butter and cookie crumbs to a medium bowl, and mix until blended.
  2. Shape into 48 1-inch balls, and place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Freeze for 10 minutes.
  4. Dip balls in melted chocolate, and place in a single layer on a shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
  5. If topping with chopped peanuts or sea salt, work quickly because the chocolate will set quickly.
  6. Refrigerate for 1 hour, or until firm.

Notes

  • Use regular creamy peanut butter for best consistency; natural or no-stir varieties can be too oily and cause filling to be loose.
  • Any Oreo flavor can be used to complement or vary the taste, such as dark chocolate filled Oreos.
  • Semi-sweet baking chocolate or dark chocolate melting wafers are preferred over chocolate chips, as they melt more smoothly.
  • Estimate nutrition values as approximate due to variations in ingredients.
