Peanut Butter Snowballs
Description
These confections start with combining peanut butter, softened butter, and powdered sugar to form a pliable dough. The mixture is shaped into small, approximately 1-inch balls that are chilled to firm up. Dipping them into melted vanilla candy coating creates a glossy, sweet outer shell that sets firmly after refrigeration, providing a contrasting texture to the creamy peanut butter center.
Sprinkles add a decorative touch, especially fitting for holiday presentations. The no-bake nature makes these simple to prepare and suitable for make-ahead gifting or snacking. The peanut butter choice affects texture; using standard creamy peanut butter ensures the dough holds together properly.
These treats can be stored at room temperature for several days, refrigerated for longer freshness, or frozen to extend shelf life. The coating helps preserve the centers and maintains their shape. Adjust dough moisture with a little extra peanut butter if crumbly.
Ingredients
- ½ cup peanut butter creamy
- 3 tablespoons butter softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 pound vanilla candy coating
- Sprinkles Christmas
Instructions
- Combine sugar, peanut butter, and butter in a bowl mixing until dough forms.
- Shape into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Chill for 30 minutes.
- When done chilling, melt candy coating according to package directions until smooth and dip balls coating them completely. Allow excess to drip off and place back on waxed paper-lined baking sheet.
- Top with sprinkles and chill for an additional 15-20 minutes. ENJOY!
Notes
- Use regular creamy peanut butter like Skippy or JIF for best texture and flavor.
- If the dough feels crumbly, add additional peanut butter a teaspoon at a time until it holds together well.
- Store peanut butter snowballs in an airtight container: at room temperature for up to 7 days, refrigerated up to 10 days, or frozen for 1-2 months.
