Pecan Pie Bars with Shortbread Crust

Pecan Pie Bars with Shortbread Crust bring together a buttery shortbread base with a rich, sweet filling made from eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, and chopped pecans. Baked in a pan and sliced into bars, this recipe offers the familiar nutty sweetness of pecan pie in a portable, single-layer form. The crisp crust balances the chewy, sticky pecan topping for a satisfying dessert or treat.

Description

This recipe starts with a shortbread crust made from softened butter, all-purpose flour, and powdered sugar, blended until crumbly and pressed into a baking pan. The crust is partially baked at 350 degrees to set before adding the filling.

The filling consists of eggs, salt, corn syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract, flour, and chopped pecans. These ingredients are whisked together until combined, then poured over the baked crust. Baking continues until the filling is set and slightly firm around the edges.

The bars combine textures of a tender, crumbly crust with a sweet, gooey top flecked with toasted pecans. They can be cooled and sliced into squares, making them easy to serve at gatherings or for individual portions. The mixture and baking steps emulate the flavors and richness of traditional pecan pie in a portable bar format.
