Pecan Rolo Pretzels

Report
Pecan Rolo Pretzels are a simple, sweet and salty snack made by topping pretzels with melted Rolos and pressing a pecan half on top. The combination of crunchy pretzels, chewy caramel and chocolate from the Rolos, and nutty pecans creates a contrast of textures and flavors that make for an easy treat to assemble and cool before serving.

Description

This recipe transforms plain pretzels into an indulgent snack by adding Rolos and pecans. Rolos are unwrapped and placed on each pretzel, then briefly warmed in the oven at a low temperature just until the caramel and chocolate begin to soften and glisten but retain their shape. Immediately pressing a pecan half on top spreads the chocolate and caramel slightly, helping everything adhere once cooled. After cooling completely, typically refrigerated, the Rolos harden again, providing a slight chewiness atop the crisp pretzel.

The result balances sweet and salty elements with a nutty crunch. The relatively low oven temperature and short bake time prevent the Rolos from fully melting and losing their shape, ensuring the treats remain easy to handle.

These snacks can be served at gatherings or stored at room temperature, although refrigeration is recommended in humid climates to maintain firmness and prevent stickiness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 50 pretzels I used the snap pretzels but the twist pretzels will work too.
  • 12 oz Package Rolos
  • 50 pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.
  2. Lay out the pretzels in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  3. Remove all the Rolo wrappers and place one Rolo on top of each pretzel.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven for 3-5 minutes until the Rolos glisten but still keep their shape.
  5. Remove from oven and immediately lightly press a pecan half on each Rolo pretzel and press down to spread the chocolate and caramel out onto the pretzel.
  6. Allow to cool completely so they harden. I like to place them in the fridge until completely cooled.
  7. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Leftover pecan Rolo pretzels can be stored at room temperature in a cool, dry place.
  • If you live in a humid area, store them in the refrigerator to keep the chocolate and caramel firm.
