Peepsicles

Peepsicles are a fun frozen treat made by dipping bunny-shaped Peeps candy on paper straws into melted chocolate, then coating with toppings such as sprinkles, coconut, or walnuts. After freezing, these pops offer a playful combination of sweet marshmallow, chocolate, and textured toppings on a stick, ideal for celebrations or an easy dessert.

Description

This Peepsicles recipe involves inserting a paper straw deep through a bunny Peep candy to secure it. Melted chocolate chips are used to completely coat the Peeps, providing a rich chocolate layer that contrasts the sweet, spongy marshmallow center. Immediately after dipping, toppings like sprinkles, coconut flakes, or chopped walnuts are sprinkled on, adding crunch and color. The coated Peeps are placed on waxed paper and frozen for 30 to 60 minutes to set the chocolate firmly and chill the treat.

The resulting Peepsicles blend the smoothness and slight bitterness of chocolate with the sugary softness of Peeps, enhanced by the texture and flavor variety from the toppings. This method allows customization of the toppings for different tastes or occasions.

In the notes, an alternative to fully coating the Peeps is suggested: dipping only the bunny ears in chocolate and coating with sprinkles to reduce the chocolate intensity, providing a lighter chocolate presence.
