Peppermint Brownies
Description
The recipe starts with baking a classic boxed brownie mix in a prepared pan lined with parchment. After cooling, a frosting made from softened butter, cream cheese, milk, powdered sugar, and peppermint extract is whipped to light fluffiness and spread over the brownies. The layer is chilled briefly before adding a melted chocolate and butter topping, which is then sprinkled with crushed candy canes for crunch and mint flavor.
This multi-layered treat delivers fudgy brownies under a smooth, tangy peppermint frosting, finished with a glossy chocolate shell and crisp candy cane pieces. The chilling steps help keep layers defined and prevent them from blending. The peppermint flavor complements the rich chocolate and adds a refreshing note, ideal for holiday occasions.
Serving chilled helps the chocolate topping set firm, allowing for clean slicing. The brownies can be cut into squares and served as festive dessert bars.
