Peppermint Ice Cream

Peppermint Ice Cream combines sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, whole milk, and peppermint extract to create a creamy, mint-flavored frozen dessert. The smooth base is churned in an ice cream maker and folded with crushed peppermint candies for a refreshing crunch. This ice cream is cool and minty, ideal for serving as a festive treat or after-dinner dessert.

Description

The Peppermint Ice Cream recipe blends sweetened condensed milk with heavy cream, whole milk, and peppermint extract to form a smooth custard base. The mixture is churned in an ice cream maker until soft set, then enhanced by folding in crushed peppermint candies, which provide bursts of minty sweetness and texture throughout.

The ice cream develops a creamy consistency with bright peppermint flavor balanced by the richness of the dairy and sweetness from the condensed milk. Chilling overnight firms the ice cream for easier scooping, while the peppermint pieces add a cool bite.

Without an ice cream maker, whipping the cream to soft peaks and folding in the milk-extract blend before freezing in a metal loaf pan is a suitable alternative process to achieve similar results. This method also allows incorporation of the peppermint candies just before the final freeze.

This peppermint-flavored ice cream works well as a holiday dessert or to accompany chocolate or fruit treats. The recipe yields a refreshing frozen treat with classic mint candy notes.
