Pesto Dip

This pesto dip combines mayonnaise, sour cream, basil pesto, garlic, lemon juice, and seasoning for a creamy, herbaceous spread. Garnished with extra pesto, diced tomatoes, basil leaves, and toasted pine nuts, it pairs well with breads, crackers, and vegetables.

Description

The Pesto Dip uses a base of mayonnaise and sour cream for a rich, creamy texture, blended with basil pesto to provide a bright herbal flavor. Minced garlic and lemon juice add pungency and acidity, balanced by salt and black pepper. The dip is stirred until smooth and can be served immediately or chilled to meld flavors.

The optional garnishes—extra pesto swirls, diced fresh tomatoes, basil leaves, and toasted pine nuts—add freshness, color, and crunch. This dip is suitable as an appetizer or snack accompaniment, complementing breads, crackers, and raw vegetables for dipping.

Homemade or store-bought refrigerated pesto may be used, with fresh pesto preferred for flavor. Low-fat versions of mayonnaise and sour cream can be substituted for a lighter dip. The dip stores well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
