Pico De Gallo
Description
The recipe calls for finely dicing tomatoes, onion, jalapeño peppers, and fresh cilantro, which are combined in a bowl. Fresh lime juice is added for acidity and brightness, while sea salt and black pepper enhance the flavors. Mixing these ingredients allows the flavors to evenly meld.
Pico De Gallo’s bright acidity from lime and the crisp, fresh vegetables contrast with the mild heat of jalapeño, producing a refreshing, crunchy salsa. It’s commonly served as a topping for tacos, grilled meats, or as a dip with tortilla chips.
Allowing the salsa to rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or longer enhances the flavor melding. Adjusting the jalapeño quantity can tailor the salsa's spiciness, making it either mild or more piquant to suit preferences.
Ingredients
- 5 tomato diced
- 0.5 onion finely diced
- 1 jalapeños finely diced
- 1 handful cilantro cilantro, fresh
- 0.5 lime (juice only)
- 1 pinch sea salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
Instructions
- Finely chop the 0.5 Onion, 5 Tomatoes, 1 Jalapeños and 1 handful Fresh coriander (cilantro).
- Add to a bowl with 0.5 Lime (juice only) and 1 pinch Sea salt and ground black pepper. Mix well.
Notes
- Let pico de gallo rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to enhance flavor melding; longer resting improves taste.
