Pineapple Dump Cake

Pineapple Dump Cake is a layered dessert featuring both drained pineapple chunks and undrained crushed pineapple topped with brown sugar and a dry cake mix, then drizzled with melted butter before baking to a golden, moist cake with tropical fruit flavor.

Description

This dessert begins by spreading two types of canned pineapple—chunks drained and crushed with juice—into a greased baking dish, providing contrasting textures and moisture. Brown sugar sprinkled over the pineapple adds sweetness and caramelizes slightly during baking. A boxed vanilla or yellow cake mix is evenly layered over the fruit and sugar, creating a crumbly topping.

Melted butter is drizzled across the cake mix to help it bake to a golden crust while keeping the cake moist underneath. The dish bakes at 350°F until the top is golden brown and the cake layers have set.

After baking, the dump cake cools slightly before serving, allowing the layers to settle. The result is a simple, sweet dessert with pineapple’s bright flavor and a buttery cake topping served warm or at room temperature.

The cake stores covered in the refrigerator for up to four days after the first day at room temperature.
