Pizookie

Report
Pizookie is a warm, skillet-baked chocolate chip cookie that balances a crispy edge with a soft, gooey center. Made with melted butter, brown and granulated sugars, and plenty of chocolate chips, this dessert encourages sharing, especially when topped with vanilla ice cream. Baking the dough in a cast iron skillet ensures even cooking and a satisfying texture contrast, making it a comforting treat that combines the joys of cookie and skillet dessert in one.

Description

The Pizookie recipe features a cookie dough made from melted unsalted butter, brown and granulated sugars, eggs, vanilla extract, flour, salt, baking soda, and milk chocolate chips. The dough is poured into a 10-inch cast iron skillet and bakes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until the edges become browned while the center remains slightly gooey, which can be adjusted to preference. The result is a dessert with a tender yet slightly crisp edge and a soft, indulgent core.

Serving the warm pizookie with vanilla ice cream adds a cool creaminess that complements the cookie's rich, chocolate-studded interior. This dessert works well as a cozy treat for family gatherings or casual dinners, offering a homemade feel with minimal fuss.

According to the recipe notes, leftovers keep well at room temperature for up to five days when stored in an airtight container. The dough can also be prepared in advance and refrigerated until it's ready to be pressed into the skillet and baked, allowing for easy planning ahead.
