Pizza Pasta
Description
This Pizza Pasta brings together cooked cavatappi pasta tossed with a sauce blending browned sausage, ground beef, onions, garlic, and diced bell peppers, simmered with diced tomatoes, oregano, and pasta sauce. The sauce is rich with Italian herbs and seasoned meat, creating a robust base. Once combined, the mixture is poured into a baking dish, topped with shredded mozzarella and pepperoni slices, then baked until the cheese melts and the pasta is heated through.
The baked cheese topping adds a creamy and slightly browned layer, complementing the saucy pasta beneath with a familiar pizza-like presence. The bell peppers add a subtle sweetness and crunch contrast to the flavorful meat sauce.
This pasta bake can accommodate various toppings according to preference, while ensuring meats are cooked beforehand and vegetables softened to avoid excess moisture. Substituting some pasta sauce with pizza sauce can enhance the flavor profile. It’s suitable for serving as a main dish for family meals or casual gatherings.
Leftovers reheat well and the dish can be customized with additional or alternate toppings for variety.
