Poinsettia Punch

Poinsettia Punch blends chilled cranberry juice, orange-flavored liqueur, and sparkling wine to create a festive, lightly effervescent beverage. Floating frozen orange slices and cranberries add visual interest and keep the drink cold without diluting it. It's a celebratory punch suitable for holiday gatherings.

Description

Poinsettia Punch combines cranberry juice and orange-flavored liqueur chilled together in a punch bowl. Adding brut sparkling wine, cava, or champagne gives the drink a lively fizz and a festive touch. The preparation includes garnishing with frozen orange slices and cranberries, which float in the punch, adding color and freshness.

The frozen fruit also serves to chill the punch without watering it down as ice cubes would. The balance between the tart cranberry juice and the sweetness of the orange liqueur, paired with dry sparkling wine, creates a refreshing and vibrant punch suitable for celebrations.

For added presentation, an ice ring made by freezing cranberries and orange slices in a Bundt pan with cranberry juice can be prepared ahead of time. Chilling the punch bowl beforehand helps maintain the drink’s cold temperature during serving.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 orange sliced for garnish
  • 2/3 cup cranberries for garnish, fresh
  • 3 cups cranberry juice chilled
  • 3/4 cup orange flavored liqueur chilled
  • 2 milliliter bottles brut sparkling wine chilled; or cava or champagne

Instructions

  1. Place the orange slices and cranberries in a single layer on a baking sheet or dish and freeze until solid, about 1 hour.
  2. When ready to serve, place the cranberry juice and orange flavored liqueur in the punch bowl and stir to combine. Add the sparkling wine or champagne.
  3. Float the frozen orange slices and cranberries in the punch and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Chill the punch bowl in the freezer or refrigerator before serving to keep the punch cold longer.
  • An ice ring can be made by freezing cranberries and orange slices with cranberry juice in a Bundt pan for an attractive garnish.
  • Add the frozen fruit and ice ring to the punch to maintain chill without diluting the flavors.
