Pork Kabobs (Shashlik)

Pork Kabobs, or Shashlik, are marinated cubes of boneless pork threaded on skewers and grilled over medium heat. The marinade includes garlic, chopped onion, mayonnaise, and seasoned with salt and black pepper, which tenderizes and flavors the meat. The kabobs are grilled until cooked through, yielding juicy, well-seasoned meat with a slight char from the grill.

Description

This recipe starts with cutting boneless pork into medium-sized pieces and mixing them with a marinade of chopped onion, pressed garlic, mayonnaise, salt, and black pepper. The mixture is left to marinate overnight in the refrigerator, allowing flavors to penetrate the meat and adding tenderness through the mayonnaise.

When ready, the marinated pork is threaded onto skewers, optionally alternating with onion slices to add sweetness and moisture during grilling. Cooking on a medium grill for about 4 minutes per side or until an internal temperature of 145°F is reached results in kabobs with balanced seasoning and pleasant char marks.

These kabobs are best served immediately after grilling while still juicy. The garlic and onion components provide a savory depth that complements the pork’s richness, making them suitable for outdoor grilling meals or gatherings.
