Pork-Stuffed Tofu In Tomato Sauce (Đậu Hũ Dồn Thịt Sốt Cà Chua)
Description
The recipe begins by frying firm or pre-fried tofu to develop a slight crust and remove excess moisture. The filling combines ground pork, chopped onion, salt, sugar, black pepper, and monosodium glutamate for seasoning. The tofu is carefully slit and stuffed with this mixture. Roma tomatoes are quartered and combined with tomato paste, fish sauce, salt, sugar, and water to prepare the simmering sauce.
The stuffed tofu pieces and sauce ingredients are then cooked together in a pot brought to a boil and simmered on low heat for about 10 minutes, allowing the tomatoes to soften and the pork filling to cook through. Chopped green onions are added toward the end to soften slightly and impart freshness. This results in a warm, comforting main dish with a hearty pork filling complemented by the mildness and texture of tofu and a bright tomato sauce.
