Potato Chip Marshmallow Bar Recipe
Description
This recipe creates a dessert bar by melting mini marshmallows and butter together with vanilla to form a sticky, sweet base. Lightly crushed salted potato chips are folded into the mixture, adding a salty crunch that balances the sweetness. The mixture is pressed into a parchment-lined pan to set and cool.
Once firm, the bars are cut into shapes and dipped partially in melted milk chocolate candy melts. They are then decorated with candy-coated chocolate chips or mini chocolate sprinkles while the chocolate is still tacky, providing a colorful, textured finish. The bars blend creamy marshmallow sweetness, crunchy saltiness from potato chips, and smooth chocolate coating, creating a layered treat.
They make a snack or dessert that contrasts flavors and textures, appealing to those who enjoy sweet and salty combinations.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons butter salted
- 5 cups mini marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 18 ounce potato chips lightly crushed, bag, brand Ruffles
- 8 ounces milk chocolate candy melts
- 2-3 tablespoons candy coated chocolate chips sprinkles or mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Line a 9x9 baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a large pot, melt the butter, then stir in the marshmallow and vanilla until smooth and fully melted.
- Remove from the heat and fold in the potato chips, turning until evenly coated. Turn into the prepared pan and press down lightly to make them flat. If they are hot, use a piece of parchment paper or wax paper on top to protect your hands.
- Set aside and allow to cool completely.
- When cooled, remove from the pan and cut into 9 squares or 18 smaller triangles.
- Melt the Candy Melts according to package directions. Dip the corner of each potato chip treat into the chocolate and set on a piece of parchment paper or wax paper.
- While the chocolate is still tacky, sprinkle with desired sprinkles, candy coated chocolate chips or mini chocolate chips.
