Ingredients

Servings
  • 500 g potato
  • 1 onion Finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • neutral cooking oil For frying, generic cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Grate the peeled potatoes and transfer them to a clean tea towel. Squeeze the towel to remove any excess liquid.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, flour, baking powder, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix the ingredients well.
  3. Heat enough vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat to cover the bottom of the pan.
  4. Using a spoon, scoop the potato mixture and drop it into the pan, then flatten each fritter slightly with a spatula.
  5. Fry the fritters for 2-3 minutes on each side until they become golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once done, remove the fritters from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  7. Serve the potato fritters hot as a side dish or with your preferred dipping sauce.
