Powdered Sugar Glaze Icing Recipe
Description
The Powdered Sugar Glaze Icing Recipe combines sifted powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract to form a glossy, sweet icing. By adding the heavy cream one tablespoon at a time, you can fine-tune the texture to your liking, whether you want a drizzle or a thicker spread. The vanilla extract adds subtle flavor and aroma to the icing. Once whisked, it can be immediately applied over baked goods such as cookies, cakes, or breads, adding a delicate sweetness and smooth finish.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 195 grams
- 3-5 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Sift the powdered sugar into a medium-size bowl. 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- Add the heavy cream a tablespoon at a time until you reach the consistency you'd like your icing or drizzle to be, whisking in between each addition. 3-5 tablespoons heavy cream*
- Add vanilla extract (or your favorite flavor). 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whisk well and immediately drizzle or spread over cookies, cakes or breads.
Notes
- Use a non-dairy milk or alternative liquids like half and half, lemon juice, or apple cider to vary flavor and accommodate dietary needs.
- Add liquids slowly, one tablespoon at a time, to achieve the desired consistency without making the glaze too runny.
- Powdered sugar is also known as icing sugar or confectioner's sugar, which dissolves easily for smooth icing.
