Description
Pretzel M&M Hugs consist of twisted pretzels topped first with Hershey's Hugs chocolates, which are warmed briefly in a low-temperature oven so they become glossy and soft but do not fully melt. Once softened, a single milk chocolate M&M is pressed into the center of each Hug, causing the chocolate to spread slightly and bind the components together. The snacks are then chilled until the chocolate hardens, creating a firm, cohesive treat that holds together while offering combined flavors and textures.
The salty crunch of pretzels contrasts nicely with the sweet, creamy milk chocolates, making these candies popular for holiday gatherings or casual snacking. They can be stored in an airtight container and enjoyed over several days without losing their texture or flavor. The use of red and green M&Ms adds a festive touch if desired.
Ingredients
- 70 pretzels do NOT use butter snaps, square shaped
- 70 chocolate from nearly 1 full 12 oz package), unwrapped, Hershey's Hugs chocolates
- 70 milk chocolate M&M's , I used the red and green Christmas package
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with a Silpat or parchment paper. Align pretzels on cookie sheet in a single layer then top each pretzel with one Hershey's Hug chocolate.
- Bake in preheated oven for 4 - 5 minutes, until the chocolate is shiny and soft (but NOT melting, the chocolates should still hold their shape).
- Remove from oven and carefully place one M&M in the center of each soft Hug and press down on M&M to spread the chocolate.
- Place in freezer or refrigerator and allow to rest until chocolate has set, about 5 - 15 minutes. Store in an airtight container.
