Publix Bakery Copycat Buttercream Frosting
Description
The Publix Bakery Copycat Buttercream Frosting recipe uses a mixture of butter and vegetable shortening to create a frosting that is rich yet stable. The butter provides flavor while the shortening contributes to structure and spreadability. Vanilla extract, almond extract, and butter flavoring combine to create a nuanced, sweet flavor profile. Meringue powder is added to stabilize the frosting, helping it hold its shape when piped or spread.
The confectioners’ sugar is sifted before incorporation to avoid clumps and ensure a smooth texture. The frosting is beaten slowly at first to combine ingredients, then at medium speed to develop a creamy consistency. If the frosting is too thick to spread easily, a small amount of milk can be added to loosen it gently without compromising stability.
This frosting can be prepared ahead and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Before use, it should be brought to room temperature and whipped again to restore its softness and spreadability. The use of butter flavoring and meringue powder enhances both taste and performance compared to a frosting made without these additions.
