Puff Pastry Nutella Twists
Description
This recipe starts with pre-rolled puff pastry, which is cut and layered with warmed Nutella spread evenly on one half. By folding the pastry over the filling, it encases the Nutella before cutting the dough into strips about 1.5 inches wide. Each strip is twisted to expose the filling and create a spiral effect before baking.
Brushing the twists with beaten egg before baking enhances the golden color and shine of the crust. Baking at 415°F for 15–18 minutes allows the pastry to puff up and develop flaky layers while the Nutella melts inside. The result is a crisp and flaky puff pastry treat with a smooth, sweet interior.
The twists are best enjoyed fresh from the oven as a quick homemade treat or served alongside coffee or tea.
Ingredients
- 10 oz puff pastry
- 1 cup Nutella adjust to taste
- 1 egg optional, to brush tops, whisked
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 415°F. Roll out puff pastry.
- Warm the Nutella in the microwave for about 15 seconds. Cut puff pastry into two pieces, then spread nutella on one half of the pastry sheet.
- Place the other half of the pastry sheet over the top of the Nutella. Using a pizza cutter, slice pastry into strips about 1.5 inch wide.
- Twist each strip and place onto a baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
- Optionally, brush each one with whisked egg. Bake for about 15-18 minutes or until golden. Enjoy!
