Ingredients
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 4 ounces dark chocolate 70% cocoa, chopped
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- whipped cream for topping optional

Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, cream, and pumpkin puree over medium heat.
- Add cocoa powder, whisking until fully incorporated and no lumps remain.
- Add chopped dark chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and salt.
- Whisk continuously until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth and hot, about 5-7 minutes. Do not let it boil.
- Remove from heat and pour into mugs.
- Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, if desired.
Notes
- For a smoother texture, blend the hot chocolate with an immersion blender before serving.- I probably wouldn’t go over 70% cocoa in the dark chocolate, it may not be sweet enough. But if you want to use a higher cocoa percentage, just adjust the sugar content.
