Puppy Chow (Muddy Buddies)

Puppy Chow, also known as Muddy Buddies, is a sweet snack made by coating Rice Chex cereal in a melted mixture of peanut butter and semi-sweet chocolate, then tossing it with powdered sugar for a crunchy, sweet, and nutty treat. This snack blends the creaminess of peanut butter with chocolate and the powdery sweetness of sugar, creating an addictive texture that’s ideal for sharing or casual munching.

Description

The Puppy Chow recipe involves melting peanut butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips together until smooth. Once melted and mixed, the chocolate-peanut butter blend is quickly stirred into the Rice Chex cereal, ensuring every piece is evenly coated. This coated cereal is transferred into a large resealable bag along with powdered sugar, then shaken until the cereal pieces are thoroughly covered with a powdery layer. This results in a sweet, crunchy snack with a balance between the creamy, chocolaty coating and the crisp cereal.

The snack’s texture offers crispness from the cereal combined with a rich, slightly sticky coating softened by the powdered sugar dusting. Puppy Chow is often served as a casual snack or party treat, enjoyed plain or alongside other finger foods. Its no-bake preparation and ease of assembly make it a convenient go-to for homemade treats.
