Quick and Easy Marinara Sauce

This Quick and Easy Marinara Sauce blends fire-roasted and crushed tomatoes with pesto and Italian seasoning for a savory, herbaceous sauce. The simmering process melds flavors, while optional fresh basil adds brightness. It yields a versatile, thick sauce good for pasta, dipping, or a base for other dishes.

Description

The Quick and Easy Marinara Sauce combines canned fire-roasted and crushed tomatoes with a base of olive oil, prepared pesto, and Italian seasoning. Heating the olive oil with pesto and spices releases aromatic flavors before adding tomatoes and crushed red pepper, creating a gently spicy, herb-infused sauce. A simmer of 20 minutes lets the ingredients meld and thicken the sauce. Fresh basil leaves can be added at the end to lend a fresh herbal note. The sauce’s moderately thick texture and balanced seasoning make it suitable for various uses like pasta topping, dipping, or layering in casseroles. Adjust salt to taste before serving.
