Quick Apple Tarts

Quick Apple Tarts feature thinly sliced apples arranged atop puff pastry squares brushed with egg and sprinkled with sugar, then baked until golden and flaky. Drizzled optionally with condensed milk, these tarts balance crisp pastry with tender apples and a touch of sweetness. They make an easy dessert or snack using simple ingredients and a short baking time.

Description

These tarts start with sheet puff pastry cut into equal pieces and brushed with whisked egg and sugar to promote browning and shine during baking. Thin slices of peeled, cored apples are layered on the pastry, optionally drizzled with condensed milk for extra sweetness and richness.

Baked at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-15 minutes, the puff pastry develops flaky golden-brown edges and a tender crumb, contrasting with the softened, juicy apple topping. The sugar and egg wash give the crust a lightly caramelized finish.

Quick Apple Tarts serve well as individual desserts or an elegant snack with tea or coffee. Their compact size makes them convenient for sharing or packed treats.

Let the puff pastry thaw fully at room temperature before assembling to ensure ease in handling and optimal rise during baking.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 heet puff pastry dough
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 apple
  • 4 tbsp condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Peel, core and cut apples into thin slices. Set aside.
  2. Split the dough into equal size pieces. I was able to get 9 pieces out of the sheet. Brush each piece with whisked eggs and a sprinkle of sugar.
  3. Move the dough pieces onto a lined baking sheet. Top each dough piece with apple slices. Optionally: Drizzle apples with condensed milk.
  4. Bake tarts at 375 °F for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Allow puff pastry to thaw at room temperature before preparation for best texture and handling.
