Red Velvet Cookies

Red Velvet Cookies are soft, moist cookies characterized by the deep red color from food coloring and a cocoa powder undertone. The dough combines cold butter with sugar, eggs, vanilla, and lemon juice to balance the richness. White and regular chocolate chips folded in add creamy and semi-sweet bursts within the tender crumb.

Description

These cookies start with cold butter creamed alongside brown and granulated sugars until smooth. Eggs, vanilla extract, and lemon juice follow to enhance flavor and moisture balance. The dry ingredients include gluten-free or all-purpose flour, cocoa powder for the red velvet taste, baking soda as a leavening agent, and a pinch of sea salt.

Intense red food coloring brings the signature hue uniformly through the dough. Mixing in white and regular chocolate chips adds texture contrast and sweetness. The dough is portioned using a scooper, allowing space for spreading during baking.

Baked at 400 degrees, the cookies come out with set centers and lightly golden edges. Cooling on the pan briefly before transferring helps maintain their shape and texture. These cookies suit anyone seeking the distinctive red velvet flavor in cookie form without additional frosting.
