Red Velvet Cookies
Description
Red Velvet Cookies blend baking chocolate melted into a butter and sugar mixture, further enriched by red food coloring and sour cream. The dough is leavened with baking soda and seasoned with salt, providing balance. After mixing, semi-sweet chocolate chips are folded in for extra texture and chocolate bursts.
The resulting cookies bake until firm and slightly risen, producing a soft yet structured texture that holds together well. The red color adds uniqueness, while the frosting combines butter, cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar for a creamy topping spread onto cooled cookies.
These cookies are ideal for occasions where a distinctive appearance is desired, and the cream cheese frosting enhances the flavor profile with a mild tang and sweetness. They can be served as dessert or sweet treats.
They store well in airtight containers for several days and freeze effectively for holiday preparation or extended shelf life.
