Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Pie
Description
This pie begins with a crust made from crushed Oreo cookies mixed with melted butter and pressed into a pie plate, then chilled to set. The filling is a creamy blend of peanut butter, softened butter, and powdered sugar whipped together until light. Over this, a warm chocolate ganache made from chocolate chips, chopped Reese's peanut butter cups, and heavy cream is poured, forming a glossy rich topping once chilled.
The combination of textures—from the crumbly cookie crust to the smooth peanut butter filling and silky chocolate layer—creates a satisfying dessert that pairs well with a dollop of homemade whipped cream. Chilling the pie for several hours ensures it firms up properly and is best served cold.
Originating from a recipe adapted from Kevin and Amanda, this pie captures the classic Reese's peanut butter and chocolate pairing in a layered pie format, making it suitable for sharing at gatherings or as a special treat.
Ingredients
Chocolate OREO Crust:
- 28 Oreo cookies crushed
- 1/2 cup butter melted
Creamy Peanut Butter Filling:
- 1 1/2 cups peanut butter creamy
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Chocolate Ganache:
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 4 Reese's peanut butter cups
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Topping:
- Reese's peanut butter cups chopped
Instructions
- Crush the OREO cookies in food processor or ziploc bag until fine. Add melted butter and stir until combined.
- Press cookie crust on the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Freeze for 10 minutes.
- In mixing bowl, add peanut butter, softened butter, and powdered sugar. Cream until smooth and fluffy. Spread over crust and return to freezer.
- Place chocolate chips and 4 Reese's Peanut Butter cups in a heat-proof bowl. Place heavy cream in the microwave for 30-45 seconds or until warm. Pour into chocolate and stir until smooth. If it isn't smooth enough and melting, place in microwave for 10-15 seconds. Stir until chocolate is glossy and smooth.
- Pour over peanut butter layer and return to freezer. Let freeze for 1-2 hours. Top with chopped Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
- May serve with homemade whipped cream.
- Best served chilled.
Notes
- Chill the pie thoroughly to allow layers to set for clean slices.
- For easier ganache melting, heat cream until just warm before adding to chocolate.
- Serving with homemade whipped cream adds a light, airy contrast to the rich pie.
