Reindeer Brownies
Description
This recipe makes a round chocolate brownie using neutral oil, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and chocolate chips folded into the batter. After baking at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes, the brownies are cooled completely before cutting into eight triangular slices.
For decoration, melted chocolate chips are applied to the backs of pretzels, candy googly eyes, and red M&Ms with a toothpick, then placed on each brownie slice to create reindeer faces. The chocolate sets to hold the decorations in place, adding a festive and whimsical element suitable for holiday celebrations or children's parties.
The brownies maintain a classic chocolate flavor and moist crumb with a tender bite from the oil and cocoa powder combination. The decorating step transforms ordinary brownies into themed treats without complicated techniques, making them accessible and fun.
Storage guidelines recommend keeping leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge, where they remain good for up to a week. All decoration items are easily available in grocery baking aisles, facilitating preparation.
Ingredients
- ½ cup neutral oil
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 egg
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chocolate chips
For decorating
- 2 tablespoons chocolate chips
- 16 pretzels
- 16 candy googly eyes
- 8 M&M's red color
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a round 9 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the oil, sugar, and vanilla; then beat in the eggs.
- In another medium bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Transfer the dry ingredients on top of the wet ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until well blended. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, being careful not to overcook them.
- Allow to cool completely. Then cut into 8 equal triangles. Melt the chocolate chips and use a toothpick to apply it to the back of the pretzels, candy googly eyes and M&M’s and place on the brownies to mimic a reindeer. Allow the chocolate to harden and enjoy.
Notes
- Store leftover brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.
- The pretzels, googly eyes, and red M&Ms can be found in most grocery store baking sections.
