Resurrection Rolls

Report
Resurrection Rolls are crescent rolls wrapped around marshmallows coated in a butter and cinnamon-sugar mixture. Baking melts the marshmallows inside the golden crescent dough, creating a soft, sweet roll with a melted center, symbolically fitting their name. The buttery cinnamon coating adds flavor and a slight crispness to the outside, making them a sweet treat that pairs well with breakfast or dessert.

Description

This recipe involves separating refrigerated crescent roll dough into triangles, then dipping large marshmallows in a mixture of melted butter and vanilla before rolling them in cinnamon sugar. Each marshmallow is wrapped tightly in the dough to seal it completely and prevent leakage during baking.

Baked at 375°F until golden brown, the rolls develop a tender crust with a sweet, melted marshmallow center. The cinnamon sugar on the exterior adds a pleasant warmth and texture contrast. The rolls should be monitored carefully in the oven to avoid over-baking, which can cause the marshmallow to overflow.

Resurrection Rolls can be served warm and are often enjoyed as a seasonal or thematic treat. Their preparation is straightforward and requires only a few common ingredients.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 marshmallows large
  • 8 oz crescent roll dough refrigerated
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted, unsalted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • sugar optional, for sprinkling
  • cinnamon optional, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Separate the crescent roll dough into 8 triangles according to the package instructions.
  4. In a separate small bowl, mix the melted butter and vanilla extract.
  5. Take each marshmallow and dip it into the butter mixture, ensuring it's fully coated.
  6. Roll the butter-coated marshmallow in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until it's evenly covered.
  7. Place the coated marshmallow at the wide end of a crescent roll triangle and wrap the dough around the marshmallow, ensuring it's completely covered. Pinch the seams to seal the marshmallow inside the dough.
  8. Place the wrapped marshmallow seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Repeat the process for the remaining marshmallows and crescent roll triangles.
  10. Optional: Brush the tops of the rolls with any remaining butter mixture and sprinkle with additional sugar and cinnamon.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
  12. Remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Watch the baking time closely to ensure rolls are golden but marshmallows do not leak out.
