Oven Roasted Cajun Turkey

  • 14 lb Jennie-O Oven Ready Cajun Style Turkey

Roasted Cajun Mashed Potatoes

  • 3 lbs Russet potatoes peeled & cubed
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp thyme leaves
  • ½ cup butter at room temperature
  • 4 oz cream cheese cubed (at room temperature)
  • 2 cups heavy cream at room temperature

Instructions

Oven Roasted Cajun Turkey

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Remove the turkey from the outer packaging.
  3. Place in a roasting pan with at least 2 inch high sides.
  4. Cut 6 small slits in the cooking bag and pull the bag away from the turkey.
  5. Place in the oven for 3 hours 30 minutes - 4 hours, or until a meat thermomember reaches 165°F in the breast and 180°F in the thigh.
  6. Let turkey rest 15 minutes in the cooking bag.
  7. Cut open the cooking bag, remove the turkey and slice.
  8. Prepare the gravy package according to instructions on the package.

Roasted Cajun Mashed Potatoes

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Toss the potatoes and garlic with the olive oil, black pepper, kosher salt, oregano, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper and thyme leaves.
  3. Spread the potatoes into an even layer on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  4. Roast for 20-25 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender.
  5. Transfer the potatoes to a large mixing bowl, add the butter, cream cheese and heavy cream.
  6. Use an electric hand mixture to mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.
