Roasted Figs

Roasted Figs are fresh figs halved and coated in a sugar and warm spices mixture, then broiled until caramelized and soft. The result is a juicy, sweet treat with a hint of cinnamon and cloves, making an elegant dessert or topping. Their caramelized edges and oozing juices provide a rich flavor contrast that suits serving immediately after broiling.

Description

This Roasted Figs recipe involves selecting ripe fresh figs, cutting them in half lengthwise, and coating them twice with a mixture of granulated sugar, cinnamon, and ground cloves. The figs are arranged cut side up on a baking sheet and broiled about 6 inches from the element until the sugar melts and caramelizes, and the figs soften and release their juices.

The broiling stage quickly heats the sugar and spices to form a caramelized crust, lending a crisp, sweet exterior texture that balances the tender, juicy fig flesh beneath. The cinnamon and cloves provide a warm spice note that enriches the natural sweetness of the fruit.

These roasted figs are best served immediately while warm, showcasing their juices and softened texture. They can complement breakfast dishes, cheeses, or be a simple dessert on their own.

For best results, choose ripe figs, and keep leftovers stored airtight in the refrigerator for up to three days.
