Rolo Pretzel Bites
Description
The Rolo Pretzel Bites recipe brings together original or mini square pretzels as a salty base topped with unwrapped Rolo candies that soften but remain intact when briefly baked. The addition of pecan halves or optional M&Ms on top adds a nutty crunch or extra sweetness. The bites are baked at a moderate oven temperature for a short time to soften the candy just enough for a chewy bite. The pretzel provides a sturdy, crispy platform supporting the soft chocolate caramel center and nut topping.
The texture varies from crunchy pretzel edges to soft melted caramel chocolate with the rich pecan overlay, making it an interesting sweet and salty combination. This treat works well for parties, snacks, or a homemade confection when you want a small, indulgent sweet paired with a salty element.
Leftovers store well if kept in an airtight container, maintaining the bites' texture. The recipe is quick to assemble, ideal for an easy but thoughtful snack.
Ingredients
- pretzels original, square pretzels, or if you are lucky you can find the mini star pretzels, mini, bag
- Rolo candies unwrapped, bag
- pecan halves
- M&Ms Hersheys kissables, (optional for kids)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place pretzels on an ungreased sheet pan. Place unwrapped Rolos in a single layer on top of each pretzel and bake for 3-5 minutes. You don't want them too melted. Remove from oven and push pecan half (or candy) halfway down on top of each Rolo. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
Notes
- Use unwrapped Rolos so they soften properly over the pretzels during baking.
- Bake just until the candy softens but does not fully melt, about 3-5 minutes at 350°F.
- Pushing pecan halves or M&Ms halfway into the softened candy helps them adhere securely.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep pretzels crisp and candy fresh.
