Rolo Pretzels
Description
Rolo Pretzels use square-shaped pretzels arranged on a baking sheet, each topped with a Rolo candy and baked briefly at 350°F so the Rolos soften but do not melt completely. Immediately after removing from the oven, an M&M is pressed into each softened Rolo, creating a colorful, candy-topped center. The combination delivers a mix of crunchy saltiness from the pretzels with the creamy, chocolate-covered caramel of the Rolos and a candy-coated M&M finish.
This treat is commonly made around holidays using red and green M&M's for a seasonal touch but works with any preferred colors. The short baking time requires careful monitoring to prevent melting the Rolos. They can be stored for up to a week in an airtight container and served as finger food or snack items.
Ingredients
- 36 pretzels square shaped
- 36 Rolo candies
- 36 M&M's I used red and green for the holidays
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Line a sheet pan with a sheet of parchment paper or nonstick baking mat.
- Lay the pretzels out in a single layer on the sheet pan. Place one Rolo on top of each pretzel.
- Bake for 3 minutes until Rolo candies have just started to soften.
- Remove from the oven and press one M&M into the top of each Rolo.
- Let sit until firm.
- Serve, or store in an airtight container for up to one week.
Notes
- Do not let the Rolo candies melt completely; just soften them slightly in the oven.
- Square pretzels are recommended for a flatter appearance, but traditional pretzels can be substituted.
- Use red and green M&M's for holiday-themed treats or other colors to suit different occasions.
- Store finished pretzels in an airtight container for up to one week to maintain freshness.
