Salted Caramel Pecan Baked Brie

Salted Caramel Pecan Baked Brie is a warm, creamy cheese wheel topped with a sticky salted caramel sauce studded with chopped pecans. The caramel develops a deep amber color and is enriched with butter, cream, and sea salt, creating a balance between sweetness and saltiness. This dish offers a rich, gooey texture contrasted by the crunchy pecans and is served with crisp apples, sliced baguette, or cookies for dipping.

Description

The recipe begins with a whole wheel of Brie cheese baked in a foil-lined basket until softened but still holding its shape. While the Brie is baking, granulated sugar is melted and stirred over medium heat until an amber caramel forms. Butter is incorporated to add richness, followed by a slow addition of heavy cream which brings creaminess and smoothness to the sauce. Once off heat, sea salt is stirred in to balance the sweetness, and chopped pecans add a nutty crunch.

When the Brie is ready, the warm salted caramel pecan sauce is poured over it, allowing the flavors to meld as the cheese remains soft and slightly melty. This combination provides a contrast of creamy cheese, sweet and salty caramel, and crunchy nuts. The recipe suggests serving it alongside thinly sliced apples, cinnamon graham crackers, shortbread cookies, or sliced baguette to scoop and complement the cheese’s richness with different textures and mild sweetness.

No storage instructions are provided, but it is implied the dish is best served warm soon after preparation to enjoy the gooey texture and glossy caramel sauce. The recipe does not include nutritional details for the serving accompaniments.

  2. Place brie in a “foil basket” on a rimmed baking sheet and into the oven for 15-20 minutes.
  3. While the brie is baking, prepare the salted caramel pecan sauce.
  4. Add the granulated sugar to a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until it turns into an amber-colored liquid.
  5. Once the sugar is completely melted, stir the butter into the caramel until it is completely melted, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Slowly, drizzle in the heavy cream while stirring constantly, allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute.
  7. Remove from the heat and stir in the sea salt and pecans.
  8. As soon as the brie comes out of the oven, place it on a rimmed serving dish and pour the salted caramel pecan sauce on top.

Notes

  • The caramel sauce balances sweetness with sea salt and includes pecans for added texture.
  • Provide assorted dippers like sliced apples, crackers, or bread to complement the rich cheese and caramel.
