Salted Caramel Pecan Pie Bars

Salted Caramel Pecan Pie Bars feature a buttery crust topped with a rich, sweet pecan filling, finished with a drizzle of caramel sauce and coarse sea salt. These bars blend the texture of a pecan pie with the convenience of portable bars. The filling is dense and sticky, tempered by the salty-sweet topping for a balanced dessert.

Description

Starting with a baked crust made from butter, brown sugar, powdered sugar, flour, and salt, these bars set the foundation for the rich pecan pie filling. The custard-like filling blends eggs, Karo syrup, sugar, melted butter, and vanilla, combined with chopped pecans for texture and flavor. After pouring the mixture over the pre-baked crust, it is baked again until the filling firms up around the edges and softens slightly in the center.

The finished bars have a soft, chewy consistency with crunchy pecans throughout. The caramel drizzle and coarse sea salt on top provide a sweet and salty contrast enhancing the classic pecan pie flavors. These bars are convenient for serving at gatherings or as a treat anytime.

Serving slightly chilled gives the bars more structure, making them easier to cut and enhancing the flavors. They store well in an airtight container for up to three days.

Ingredients

Servings

For the Crust

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • cup brown sugar
  • cup powdered sugar
  • 2 ⅔ cup flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Filling

  • 4 egg large
  • 1 ½ cups Karo syrup
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups pecans roughly chopped

Topping

  • cup caramel sauce
  • sea salt coarse

Instructions

Prepare the crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9x13 inch pan with foil and grease with cooking spray. In a large bowl mix together butter, brown sugar, and powdered sugar. Add flour and salt and mix until combined. Press firmly into prepared pan. Bake for 10 minutes.

Prepare the filling

  1. While the crust is baking, combine eggs, Karo Syrup, sugar, melted butter and vanilla in a large bowl. Mix well. Stir in pecans. Pour over the crust, spread evenly, and return to oven to bake for 25-30 minutes longer until firm around the edges and center starts to firm up as well. Allow to cool completely before lifting the foil liner out of the pan and cutting into bars.
  2. Drizzle caramel sauce over bars and sprinkle with sea salt to taste. Serve immediately or store in airtight container up to three days.

Notes

  • Serve these bars slightly chilled to enhance their texture and ease slicing.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to three days to maintain freshness.
