Sausage and Mushroom Pasta

Sausage and Mushroom Pasta features whole wheat rotini tossed with sauteed cremini mushrooms, spinach, and sliced pre-cooked chicken sausage, finished with butter, shallots, and Parmesan cheese. The savory components provide a hearty texture and rich umami flavors, making it a satisfying meal.

Description

This recipe starts by cooking rotini pasta until tender and draining it. Meanwhile, cremini mushrooms are dry-sauteed until their moisture evaporates, concentrating their earthy flavor. Butter and shallots are then added to create a savory base, softening the shallots and enriching the pan.

Pre-cooked sliced chicken sausage is added and browned briefly, adding protein and a salty, smoky flavor. Baby spinach is stirred in last, wilting down and mingling with the other ingredients. Finally, the cooked pasta and grated Parmesan cheese are combined, coating the pasta with a subtle, cheesy finish.

The dish provides a mix of textures from al dente pasta, tender mushrooms, and hearty sausage, balanced by the mild greens and sharp cheese. It can be served immediately for a warm and filling pasta dish with well-rounded flavors from the ingredients.
