Sauteed Brussels Sprouts

These sauteed brussels sprouts are cooked with butter, garlic and herbs until tender and caramelized. An easy and versatile side dish that pairs perfectly with chicken, beef and seafood, and is a great addition to any holiday meal.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts trimmed and halved
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic 
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped parsley can also use green onions or fresh dill

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large pan over medium high heat.
  2. Add the brussels sprouts and cook for 3-4 minutes or until browned.
  3. Stir in the garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sprouts are tender.
  4. Drain off any excess liquid. Sprinkle with parsley, then serve.

Notes

  • Choose brussels sprouts that are all similar in size so that they cook at the same rate. I prefer to get smaller sprouts when they’re available, I find them to be more tender.
  • To make this recipe vegan, use olive oil instead of butter and vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
