Savory Pumpkin Chili

Savory Pumpkin Chili blends ground beef, aromatic veggies, and a combination of beans, tomatoes, and canned pumpkin with warming spices like chili powder, cumin, sage, and pumpkin pie spice. The pumpkin adds a unique savory depth while keeping the chili moist and hearty.

Description

In this savory pumpkin chili, ground lean beef is browned with diced onion, celery, carrot, red bell pepper, and minced garlic, creating a flavorful base with softened vegetables. After draining excess fat, canned pumpkin puree, cannellini beans, diced tomatoes with their juice, and chicken broth are added. A blend of chili powder, cumin, ground sage, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and black pepper season the pot, contributing both heat and an earthy warmth.

The chili simmers uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the mixture to thicken slightly. The pumpkin puree creates a rich, smooth texture that complements the tender beans and savory beef, making this chili hearty and comforting.

This dish can be served as a warming meal on its own or with simple sides such as cornbread or rice. Its distinct use of pumpkin provides a seasonal twist on traditional chili, balancing classic spices with mild sweetness and creaminess.
