Sesame Chicken Toast
Description
Ground chicken is blended with minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, sugar, white pepper, sesame oil, Chinese rice wine, and cornstarch to create a smooth, flavorful paste. Finely sliced green onions are folded in last for texture and freshness. This mixture is then spread evenly over slices of white bread that have been sprinkled with sesame seeds, coating the surface.
Deep-frying the prepared toasts in canola oil forms a crisp golden exterior with a toasted sesame crust that contrasts the moist chicken topping. The ginger and garlic impart warm, aromatic flavors, while the rice wine and sesame oil add umami depth. The toast base absorbs some of the flavors but remains crisp underneath the chicken layer.
Sesame Chicken Toast is served garnished with additional green onions and accompanied by chili sauce to add a spicy kick. It can work as an appetizer or snack, delivering a mix of crunchy, savory, and spicy elements in one bite. Preparing the chicken paste either by food processor or wooden spoon method allows for flexibility based on kitchen tools.
