Shrimp Creole
Description
This Shrimp Creole recipe begins by sautéing onions, bell pepper, celery, and garlic to build a savory base. Diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, cayenne, and Cajun seasoning are added and simmered to meld flavors and develop a rich sauce. A flour and water slurry thickens the mixture, producing a smooth texture.
Seasoned shrimp are added toward the end, cooking just until opaque so they remain tender without overcooking. Additional seasonings such as Worcestershire and hot sauce deepen the flavor with umami and heat. Garnished with scallions and fresh parsley, this dish presents a bright, slightly spicy profile typical of Creole cooking.
Shrimp Creole can be served over rice or with crusty bread to complement the saucy stew.
