Shrimp tacos

Shrimp tacos offer seasoned shrimp cooked quickly to a tender finish and served on double-layered corn tortillas. The shrimp are coated with a mix of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and cayenne, balanced by lime juice and zest for brightness. Topped with finely shredded cabbage and sour cream, these tacos provide a combination of spicy, citrusy, and creamy flavors with a crisp texture from cabbage.

Description

This recipe for Shrimp tacos begins by tossing peeled and deveined shrimp with a blend of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, kosher salt, cayenne pepper, lime juice, and lime zest. The mixture marinates briefly while the skillet heats. The shrimp are cooked quickly on high heat for about a minute per side, enough to reach just cooked through without overcooking, preserving tenderness.

The cooked shrimp are served on double-layered corn tortillas, which help hold the filling together. Finely shredded green cabbage provides a fresh crunch contrasting the warm, spiced shrimp. Sour cream adds creaminess and balances the spices. Lime wedges are served alongside to add extra citrus as desired.

These tacos are suitable for a casual meal with a balanced mix of spice, citrus, and crunch from the cabbage. The quick cooking process keeps the shrimp tender and the tortillas pliable for easy eating.
