Shrimp Wontons

Shrimp Wontons feature a filling of coarsely chopped shrimp blended with aromatic ginger, scallions, and seasonings, all wrapped in thin wonton wrappers. They can be boiled until they float or steamed to tender perfection and are commonly served hot with a ginger vinegar dipping sauce that adds a bright, acidic contrast to the savory filling.

Description

This Shrimp Wontons recipe uses finely prepared fresh shrimp combined with ginger, scallions, and a touch of sesame oil for a fragrant and textured filling. The shrimp is chopped rather than minced to maintain a pleasant bite. Wonton wrappers are filled with about a teaspoon of the mixture and sealed with beaten egg to lock in the filling during cooking.

The wontons can be cooked by boiling just until they float to the surface or steamed for several minutes to ensure a tender, juicy texture. They are served hot, paired with a ginger vinegar dipping sauce made from grated ginger, soy sauce, dark vinegar, and chopped scallions, which complements the shrimp with tang and freshness.
