Sizzling Tofu
Description
The tofu is pressed to remove moisture, then cut into cubes and fried in hot canola oil until evenly golden and crisp. Separately, onions, garlic, red and green bell peppers, and various chili peppers are sautéed in butter until tender-crisp. Calamansi juice and Knorr seasoning sauce are added to simmer and reduce slightly, creating a tangy, savory base.
After removing from the heat to avoid excess grease, mayonnaise is stirred in to coat the mixture and tofu cubes evenly. The dish is transferred to a sizzling plate and garnished with chopped chilies to serve immediately. The crispy texture of tofu combined with the creamy, tangy, and mildly spicy sauce creates a distinctive flavor profile.
Sizzling Tofu is typically served hot to maintain textural contrast and makes for an interesting appetizer or main dish for those who enjoy layered flavors with a hint of heat.
