Slow cooker better than sex cake
Description
This chocolate cake recipe uses a devil's food cake mix mixed with water, oil, eggs, vanilla, and half the can of sweetened condensed milk, then poured into a greased slow cooker. Chocolate chips sprinkled on top melt during cooking, enhancing chocolate richness. The cake bakes on high for 2 to 3 hours until set, then holes are poked into it to allow the remainder of the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce to soak in, infusing moisture and sweetness throughout the cake.
After baking, it’s cooled to room temperature and then chilled in the refrigerator. The cake is served topped with Cool Whip and chopped Heath bars, which add creamy lightness and crunchy toffee bits, complementing the dense chocolate base. The slow cooking produces a moist, tender crumb with a smooth, luscious caramel layer.
This dessert makes use of common packaged ingredients and a slow cooker for an easy but decadent chocolate treat best served chilled. Checking doneness early is advised due to variations across crock pots.
Ingredients
- 1 devil’s food chocolate cake mix
- 1 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3 egg
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 14 ounce sweetened condensed milk can
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 16 ounce caramel sauce in jar
- 8 ounce Cool Whip tub
- 1/2 cup heath bars chopped
Instructions
- Mix the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract and 1/2 of the sweetened condensed milk together in a large bowl.
- Spray a 6 quart crock pot with a non-stick cooking spray.
- Pour the batter into the crock pot and top with the chocolate chips.
- Cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours. Check the cake after 2 hours as each crock pot cooks differently.
- When the cake is done baking use the round handle end of a wooden spoon and poke holes all throughout the cake.
- Pour the remaining sweetened condensed milk all over the top of the cake and spread it out.
- Then pour the caramel sauce over the top of the cake and spread it out.
- Remove the crock pot insert from the crock pot and allow to cool at room temperature and then move to the refrigerate to chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Serve topped with the cool whip and chopped up heath bars and enjoy!
