Slow Cooker Creamy Italian Chicken
Description
The chicken breasts are seasoned with a mild blend of Mr's Dash Original seasoning and black pepper, then layered in a slow cooker. Two cans of cream of chicken soup and a packet of Italian dressing mix add moisture, tang, and herbs, while cubed cream cheese melts during cooking to thicken the sauce and contribute richness.
Cooked on low for 5 to 6 hours or high for 3 hours, the chicken becomes tender enough to shred easily with forks, after which it is mixed thoroughly with the creamy sauce. Milk can be added to adjust the consistency if the sauce is too thick.
Serving suggestions include noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes that soak up the flavorful gravy. A sprinkle of chopped parsley adds freshness and color at serving.
This recipe yields about 8 servings and offers moderate calories and protein per portion, not including any side dishes.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken breast boneless skinless
- seasoning blend to taste, Mr's Dash's Original
- black pepper to taste
- 2 cans (10 ounces, each) cream of chicken soup OR use my homemade condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 envelope Italian dressing mix Good Season's Zesty
- 1/2 block (4 ounces) cream cheese cubed
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup milk as needed
- parsley for garnish (optional, chopped
Instructions
- Spray a large slow cooker insert with cooking spray. Lay chicken breasts in the bottom. Season with Mr's Dash's original seasoning (I use about one teaspoon) and a sprinkle of black pepper, to taste.
- Pour cream of chicken soups and Italian dressing mix evenly over chicken. Lay the cubed cream cheese all over the tops. Cover slow cooker with lid and cook on low heat 5 to 6 hours OR on high heat 3 hours.
- Carefully shred chicken with two forks and mix up the sauce/gravy. If it's too thick you can thin it out with a little milk.
- Serve chicken over cooked noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes. Garnish with parsley, if desired. Enjoy!
