Slow Cooker Orange Cranberry Ginger Glazed Ham
Description
Slow Cooker Orange Cranberry Ginger Glazed Ham features a slow-cooked ham scored with cloves, bathed repeatedly in a glaze made from orange and cranberry juices, brown sugar, ground ginger, mustard, cloves, and fresh cranberries. The glaze is first reduced on the stovetop until thickened, then half is drizzled over the ham before slow cooking, with additional glaze added hourly to build layers of flavor and a caramelized crust. This technique produces a moist, tender ham with a crispy, flavorful exterior.
The flavor profile combines the tartness of cranberries and orange with the warmth of ginger and cloves, creating a complex glaze that complements the savory pork. The repeated basting during slow cooking encourages a sticky, glossy finish. For extra texture, the ham may also be briefly broiled to crisp the sugar coating without burning it.
Serve immediately after cooking to enjoy the contrast of the tender inside and caramelized glaze on the outside. This ham pairs well with traditional sides like roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes, offering a festive main course.
