Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Recipe

This Slow Cooker Pulled Pork recipe uses a trimmed, boneless pork loin roast seasoned with garlic powder, salt, red wine vinegar, and liquid smoke before slow cooking on low heat. After 8 to 12 hours, the tender pork is shredded and combined with reserved cooking juices and BBQ sauce, then cooked further to meld flavors. The method yields moist, richly flavored pulled pork that can be served in sandwiches or with sides.

Description

The Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Recipe begins by seasoning a 2 1/2-pound center-cut pork loin roast with salt, garlic powder, red wine vinegar, and smoky liquid smoke. It cooks slowly over 8 to 12 hours on low heat until tender enough to shred easily. Removing the pork from the slow cooker preserves the cooking juices, which are then mixed with BBQ sauce. The shredded pork returns to the slow cooker to absorb the sauce for an additional hour on high heat, creating a juicy, flavorful pulled pork.

This preparation delivers succulent meat with a balance of savory, tangy, and smoky notes. The slow cooking breaks down the muscle fibers, producing a texture that pulls apart easily but retains moisture. It is versatile for serving in sandwiches, tacos, or as a main dish with sides.

The notes clarify that nutritional information relates to pork alone and does not include any bread or sandwich components served with the pork.

Servings
  • 2 1/2 lbs pork loin roast center cut, trimmed, boneless

  • 1 tsp salt sea salt

Instructions

  1. Place pork in the slow cooker and season with salt, vinegar, garlic powder and liquid smoke.
  2. Cover and cook low 8 to 12 hours, until tender.
  3. Remove pork and transfer onto a large dish; reserve all the liquid into a cup and set aside.
  4. Shred the pork with two forks and put it back into the slow cooker along with about 3/4 cup of the reserved liquid and the BBQ sauce (for every 3 oz cooked pork, I used 2 tbsp BBQ sauce).
